DORPIE (WT) | Documentary | By Julia Jaki

A seemingly idyllic town in South Africa repeatedly makes the news: within the space of a few years, six women were raped and murdered by members of their own community.
Even though almost all the perpetrators are behind bars, the crimes against women still continue, with the murder of a 17-year-old girl being the latest atrocity..

In search of answers, we follow community worker Lana O’Neill, who runs the region’s only safe house for abused women.
While some of the issues are specific to South Africa, the main topic of the film – violence against women – transcends national borders and is a pressing issue of global relevance.
